I’m a traveler. Not the 3D one.
A two-story building was standing strong amidst a forest of pine trees. The walls were painted white and it glimmers as if it was brand new. I opened my eyes and I was on the second floor and a middle-aged woman greeted me. She was full of life, like the sun after a morning drizzle. I wandered the place and as I reached the staircase leading to the first floor, the walls are no longer glimmering in white. They were now painted gray as if they’ve seen the old. It became dark and the floor suddenly felt lifeless.
I continue my descent to the first floor and reached the door leading to the courtyard. The night was beautiful. But I realized that I was not alone. There were spirits outside, human silhouettes, shapeless in form. I realized my presence was not entirely welcomed. I felt an ounce of curiosity from the beings there, asking what am I doing there. Before closing the door, a woman entered. Her face was lifeless then her face started to rot like it was taken away by an accident. She was trying to communicate but it seems she can’t come near me. I realized this is one of the few encounters where spirits are trying to communicate with me. I didn’t feel any hint of animosity. I only felt loneliness and the feeling of being lost from the beings there. It’s like they’re in eternal limbo.
I can see the staircase from the main door. Silhouettes of gray started to appear near it. I see the rusted walls, the lifeless ceilings. The place I was in was abandoned. I started to climb back. I was wondering why the place was different at first. The woman without a face started guiding me back. I saw a black silhouette eagerly watching from afar. Then as I reached the second floor, I saw that the place which I came from was bathed with light, an empty gray hallway covered with light.
I walked through it and as I stepped in, the rusted walls and gray ceilings vanished. The night turned to day. I was transported back in time. The spirits showed me what was the place like before it was abandoned. The building was an old hospital. The woman who greeted me was a nurse who passionately served in the place. It was the last footprint of her energy, a cry for what was long gone and forgotten. She showed me her true form. The life she showed me is a shell of her former self. She’s also a spirit stuck in that place.
I didn’t feel any energy of malevolence, just creeping loneliness. I noticed more spirits are gathering near me. I can’t stay any longer. I know what they wanted and that’s enough.
